I have come to realize that a state where you are in relationship with God is the most satisfying state to be in. You might not be conscious of it yet but your heart is constantly in search for satisfaction, joy and peace.
Satan does a swell job making you feel like something is missing in your life but he never points you to Jesus who is the answer. He will rather point you to the things of the world like a better job, a higher salary, a better lifestyle, a new car, a better smart phone, a better tablet, cigarettes, alcohol, weight-loss, a new wife or husband or other pleasures and things for satisfaction, joy and peace.
The truth is that the the things of the world can never satisfy us but we are always lured into this deceiving hope.

Solomon the richest and wisest king to have ever lived on the earth said: Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher; “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 1:2) He concluded that if you try to find satisfaction in the world, it is meaningless, it is like chasing after the wind. He said: I made my works great, I built myself houses, and planted myself vineyards. I made myself gardens and orchards, and I planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. I made myself water pools from which to water the growing trees of the grove. I acquired male and female servants, and had servants born in my house. Yes, I had greater possessions of herds and flocks than all who were in Jerusalem before me. I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the special treasures of kings and of the provinces. I acquired male and female singers, the delights of the sons of men,and musical instruments of all kinds. So I became great and excelled more than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me. Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, For my heart rejoiced in all my labor; And this was my reward from all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done And on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 2:4-11)
This the plight of every man in the world. He is in an endless search for eternal peace, joy and happiness but never finds it.
Jack Higgins, internationally famous novelist, was asked what he would like to have known when he was younger. He replied, "That when you get to the top, there’s nothing there."
However, the Good News is that Jesus Christ offers us a relationship with Him that will set us free from our endless search for love, joy and peace in the world. God created us for his pleasure (Colossians 1:16) (Revelation 4:11) (Romans 11:36) (1 Corinthians 8:6) (Ephesians 1:10) and only a relationship with him makes every second of our existence meaningful.
Jesus Christ told the Samaritan woman at the well: whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:14) Jesus also said: “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)
I believe that the main reason Jesus Christ died for us on the cross of Calvary was not to forgive our sins or save us from the fires of hell but to give us an eternal relationship with Him.
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve did not have anything lacking in their life. They were in communion with God and God would speak to them daily in the cool of day. (Genesis 3:8)
But Satan cunningly deceived them by making them feel like something was lacking in their life. He told them that God was keeping something from them when God told them not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. (Genesis 3:4-5)

Satan's weapons have not changed over the years. He still tries to deceive us by making us feel like there is something more out there in the world to be gained. But the truth is that there isn't.
Jesus said: And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. (John 17:3) The word 'know' in this verse is really talking about an intimate type of knowing. The eternal life that Jesus Christ offers us is an intimate and personal relationship with Him and the Father.
The prophet Jeremiah spoke of the gift of relationship with God this way: No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more. (Jeremiah 31:34)
So what are you waiting for? Jesus Christ, the Lord your God is calling you back to him.
Jesus said: All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:37-40)
